WHO internships for medical students

Dear IFMSA members,
... I'm pleased to inform you that we have received overall 14 applicants for the CAH and 6 for the TFI internships by February 8th. It was exciting to see a large number of medical
students with a great diversity in their backgrounds applying for these internships.
I'm happy to announce that a IFMSA-Quebec member - Ms Marie-Renée B-Lajoie was finally
selected for the CAH internship in WHO
Headquarters in Geneva, starting this March. Best
wishes to Marie-Renee and fingers crossed the
internship surpasses all of her expectations and
wishes. Unfortunately, we were informed on Feb 9th that because of the time pressures to start
with a project that had internship attached to it,
TFI chose to go with a non-medical student
intern. In the future, when an opportunity arises,
TFI will offer us an internship.
For all of you who would like to apply for an internship at WHO HQ in Geneva or any of the
WHO Regional Offices - please find more
information on how to apply at: http://www.who.int/employment/internship/en/
Yours truly
Silva
ps - if IFMSA receives offers for specific internships in the nearer future, we will again organize a call
(so keep an eye on the ifmsa-general list)

Only Phillipe Abreu Reis and Marina Jacob Chaer will represent DENEM at Tunisia MM 09. Unfortunately, we could not afford for more than 2 students there, so one is going to President Sessions, and the other will have to go to SCOPE sessions, and also SCORE sessions. In August, for the AM 09, we will sure send more delegates.

Your donation for Gaza

Dear friends,

During the past days, a humanitarian crisis has evolved in Gaza with hundreds of thousands of civilian people affected and needing urgent attention and help. Since a large number of people have expressed their will to help, we in the Team of Officials (TO) have been discussing the easiest and best methods of support to make sure that the help gets to the innocents suffering as quickly and as efficiently as possible. In the name of the TO, Flo, Thaty and Melhim have decided to reopen the IFMSA Health and Humanitarian Crisis Fund. So, here is our plan and what to do if you want to help:

1) Organize local fundraising events,

2) Transfer the money to the IFMSA's account under the name "IFMSA HCCF",

3) Send emails to the lists of your fundraising efforts in order to motivate others.

4) The IFMSA will collect the money and make transfers every 3 weeks to UNRWA. Thus, our first deadline is February 3rd, 2009, GMT 23h59.

5) Melhim and Silva will meet with the Officials in the UNRWA Offices in Geneva next week to further discuss ways of collaboration.

As the Directors on SCORP & SCOPH and the IFMSA President, we hope that this is just the first time this IFMSA Fund will be activated to help in alarming conflicts such as the one going on in Gaza. We are here to activate this Fund whenever you, as the IFMSA members, feel like helping people who are in need.

There are many other alarming conflicts and situations around the world which don't receive as much attention by the media as this one. This doesn't diminish nor expand all the suffering in Gaza, so we're determined to help. We hope that this Fund will give us the opportunity to decide as IFMSA where we put our attention to and where we help!

Let this be just the first of a sequence of other joint 'green & orange' initiatives.

Hugs and kisses,

On behalf of the IFMSA Team of Officials,

From Thaty & Flo & Melhim.
